Timetable for Sunday 14th - Macclesfield

Good luck to all our athletes who have entered the competition this coming Sunday.  The order of events is here which should help you plan your day.

Junior Multievent Championships

Our last outdoor competition of the T&F season is on Sunday 14th September: the Cheshire Junior Multievents Championships. This is a triathlon event for u11s and u13s and a pentathlon for the older groups.

Athletes need to enter in advance for this competition.  Places in all age groups are limited, with the u11s and u13s categories being particularly popular. We have a limited number of places available for HWAAC athletes and as in previous years, may need to disappoint some of our applicants. In cases where choices need to be made, we will give priority to athletes who have competed in one or more of the first 3 matches of the T&F league. 

I advise you to return forms quickly - you can hand them in at training from this  coming Thursday.

Please note that there is no fee for HWAAC athletes as we organise this event so this form is just for HWAAC members - please do not copy it to people outside the club.

The third  Track and Field match of the summer is this coming summer Sunday, 6th July. Although it's a bit further afield, travel times are less than you might expect because it's mostly on the good old M56.  Hosts are Deeside AC based in Deeside College, Connah's Quay, CH5 4BR.  There's a big covered stand there, so even if the weather is a bit mixed, there's plenty of cover.

If you're planning to come along, please choose your preferred events from the match timetable and let us know on Thursday, ask your parents to email us or leave me a message on 01625 529406 before 6pm on Saturday.

Parents: The attached summer season briefing and match timetables give you more details of dates, events, age groups etc. Please meet at the track at 11.20am (or let us know on Saturday evening at the latest if you're likely to be late). It really does help things to run smoothly if we know these details in advance.  And don't forget, adults can compete too ... see the match timetables.

If you're a newcomer to the club, and you're not sure about anything, please ask on Thursday or send an email to this address.

First Track and Field match Sunday May 11

A reminder that our first Track and Field match of the summer is next Sunday, 11th May at Trafford AC at Longford Park in Stretford  (M21 9TA). 

Athletes: There are only four league matches over the whole summer so please try to get to as many as possible.  This will help make sure that the club gets a good points score on the day, gives you the chance to set new personal bests and also gives you more points when it comes to the club awards evening  in November.

If you're planning to come next Sunday, please choose your preferred events from the match timetable and let us know on Thursday or ask your parents to email us.

Cheshire Relays - 21 July

We had a great time at Crewe. Well done: Oscar, Stuart, sam and Ben.

The boys were such fantastic representatives of the club.   I was really impressed by the way the boys  coped with the occasion - I know how tense it can feel in a situation like that.  They worked really well together,  encouraged each other and I was so pleased to see excellent baton passes on every single handover. 

The competition was really fierce on the day - if I've got my figures right, Crewe and Nantwich 'A' set an new county record in the 'A' final, so our boys did really well to come 4th in the 'B' final.  For the record, our time in the heat was 65.1s and 65.6s in the 'B' final - if we could have reduced that by 1s overall (just 0.25s per runner) then we would have been 2nd.  Something to aim for!

Can't wait for Colwyn Bay on 2nd September - to see how we do!!

Track and Field - Macclesfield

It was good to see so many Athletes at Macclesfield to support the Club and to see many really good performances from them.  In the U.11 Boys most of whom were competing for the first time, Sam Firth & Brandon Horne did particularly well in the 75m Sprint as did Ben Mail in the 600m race.  It was also very rewarding to see Sam Thompson competing for the first time.

The U.11 Girls also had a good day with PBs (Personal Best performances) in the 600m & Soft Javelin Throw for Clara (she took first place with her throw again !!) and for Charlotte in all three of her events. To cap it all we had to draw lots to decide who would run in the 4 x 100m Relay, Clara lost but got her chance to run with the Boys team, both teams had a good run.

In the U.13s age group all three athletes set new PBs with Alice bettering her 100m time and both Daniel & Niklas in their 800m race also Nick produced a great throw in the Shot Putt to take 3rd place.

George Ridley and Jamie Scobby together with Andy Acton made up the remainder of the team, both George and Jamie were able to set PBs in all their events, particularly pleasing was Jamie's 1.55m clearance in the high jump to take 2nd place.

Track and Field FAQs

1. How old do you need to compete? You can compete if you are in Y4 at school or older. There are senior events too so parents you can get involved as well. You can do up to 3 events. Your points for these events count towards our club total.

2. When do I choose my events? Choose your events in advance and let us know at Thursday training. See the timetables given out with this sheet or check our website.

3. What about if I’m unsure about the rules? Talk to the team manager and older athletes. The officials are really helpful too!

Medals for HWAAC at Multievents Championships

 

A cool wind made conditions far from ideal for the junior multievents

competitions on 11th September, but that did not deter our 15 HWAAC athletes.

The determination was typified by the approach to the 800m, an event junior

athletes either love or loathe. It was great to see so many of our contingent

taking part, even those who simply hate that distance, in the knowledge that

it could boost their points scores.

 

There's not space here to mention all the highlights (see www.cheshireaa.com

for full details) but one was the superb battle between Oscar Stone and Stuart

Harwood to be the HWAAC top dog in the u-11B 800m. Oscar just edged ahead this

time!

 

After all the points scores in the scoreroom had been calculated, several of

our athletes walked away with trophies or medals. Our u-11 girls were the

winners in the 4 X 100m - well done to Alice Kirker, Phoebe Hutton. Clara

Edler and Rebecca Webb. In the u-11 boys' triathlon, Oscar Stone took 3rd

place with just 6 points separating him from the winner of the event. There

was a bronze medal too for Jamie Scobbie in the u-17 men's pentathlon, a

deserved reward for his contribution to the club in this and many previous

seasons.

 

Many thanks to Rosalie & Deirdre for masterminding the scoring operation,

assisted by parents Beccy, Julie, Kate, Toni and Clare. Thanks also to Alan

Sykes of Jones Homes for sponsoring the event and presenting the prizes.

Cheshire Track and Field round 1 – Stretford

Parking may have been a little tight on the day! Perhaps next time we’ll park a little distance away – but we had a good attendance at the first round of the Cheshire Track and Field league.  We had Alice, Jemma, Asuka, for the Girls with Haruka giving support from the side; and Jack, Marcus, Jamie, Rory and Oscar for the boys. With Andy starring for the parents Marcus won his Javelin competition and Andy set a PB in javelin of 27.48. How about a few more parents trying things next time?  Don’t be shy you can have a practice at the end of athletics training on Thursday – just let the coaches know.

We are awaiting results from the Cheshire web-site and will publish them when they are available.

Cheshire County Athletics have released the 2010/11 fixture list.

Dates and venues for the North West Sportshall Athletics League are listed below. As we did last year,  all Clubs will compete in four of the five fixtures.

Track & Field report Round 2 - Macclesfield

A very good turnout at Macclesfield saw us do very well for a small club!

 

Well done to:

Harry Stobart, James Crossley, Jamie Scobbie, Joel Norman, Asuka Okishio, Harry Sumner, George Sumner, Luke James, Jemma Dempster, Chloe Atkins, Jack Dempster, Harry Botham and Rory Stobart.

 

And to the parents Andy Acton, Chris Botham and Dean Sumner who also competed.

 

The highlights were:

 

·Men , 2nd in discus;

·u15boys, 4th in shot,

·u13 boys 1st equal in discus;

·u11 boys 2nd in soft javelin.

·u15 boys were 2nd in High jump and 3rd in relay.

 

Although we were last, 6th, on combined team scores,

·our men were 5th in their age group!!;

·the u15's 4th;

·u13's 2nd

·and u11 boys 2nd.

 

It wouldn't need too many more athletes for us to show up well.

 

On the girls' side, our three girls did their best against very strong opposition?

I wonder why the other clubs stronger on the girls' side?  Any ideas?

Cheshire Relays 3rd July - Crewe: Teams

The Sprint relays start at 11:00am in Crewe. There is a 4 x 100 and a 3 x 800 race.

Athletes need to be leaving Wilmslow by 10:00 if possible. If we know the teams I'm sure shared transport can be arranged if that helps. I suggest we do this this Thursday.

The 800m relays start at about 2:00pm and I guess ours would be over by about 3:00pm.
