Thank you to all the 29 athletes who competed in our May Quadrathon last night. It was such a success I wonder if we can do it again before the multi-events in September.
Our winning boys were Oscar, Luke, Ewan and Jamie with Rebecca, Asuka, Haruka and Hannah the winners in the Girls categories. And yes you can come first and last sometimes!
We were witness to some storming finishes, particularly Ewan's 100m and 600m and a titanic battle between Jamie and Harry [2nd] who finished 3 points behind in second. Joel popped up with 4.30m long jump. And paced the U13s around the track for the 600m.
In the U11's Marcus [2nd] showed great skill and strength to throw his howler 30.40 metres! Clara [overall 2nd] and Matthew [3rd] made cracking 600m runs, with good jumping from Rebecca and Oscar.
Jack came ahead of Phoebe in the 100m but Phoebe [3rd] turned the tables on Jack in the 600m later that night.
U13 boys had the biggest attendance with 10 boys competing with some strong performances such as Niklas [2nd] in the 100m, and Elliot [3rd] and Brendan's 600m, plus Luke's long Jump. Caidan and Alasdair had the tightest competition with just 1 point separating them after 4 events. The first 600m race saw an epic battle between Daniel and Niklas, with Niklas just taking the honours ...this time! Harry managed to pip Daniel just in all events as did Jack with Rory. They can seek their revenge next time.
U13 Girls had Alice [3rd] hurling the howler furthest and good results all round with Jasmine [2nd], with Haruka doing well in everything but throwing.
Ewan was strongest in the U15 boys but Markus pushed Ewan hard in the howler whilst Charlie [3rd] pipped Markus [2nd] in the 100m and very close in the Long Jump.
Marrianne [2nd] found herself chasing Asuka most of the night and Hannah strolled around with the confidence that comes with the certainty of coming first.
Competition was fierce in the U17 boys, with Jamie's total of 270 points ensuring victory but a margin of just 3 points.
Joel helped out in Long Jump with Mike and Anna whilst Sophie, back late from her school tennis match in Marple with James, ran - well walked really - the results to Rosalie to give Julie a bit of a rest.
A big thank you to Rosalie and Deidre who managed to get the information in quickly and to the remaining parents and young Alicewho helped out.
We had Julie and Dave and Jim on Howler, and Andy- fresh from his Manchester 10K run on Sunday, where he knocked several minutes of last years time to record a pb of 48:32 (with a split of 23:49), as starter for the running events with timers: myself, Mark, Beccy, Toni, David, and Kate with daughter Alice who may be running in this event next time!
Thank you to Jim, Rosalie, Mike, Julie and Mark for organising this event.
Kids and parents and helpers - why don't you let them know what you liked and did not like about the event so that next time it will be even better.
Patrick
